CeramiCure® Light-Cure Acrylic (LCA) enables manufacturers to make nearly invisible repairs of minor glaze defects, such as pits, iron spots, small chips, or pinholes, as the following steps demonstrate:
Step 1: Prepare the Surface
Lightly rough up the area to be repaired with a proper drill (e.g., a Dremel tool, not a metallic drill), an air chisel, or an engraving tool. Clean the area with alcohol and allow to dry.
Step 2: Apply the CeramiCure Porcelain Conditioner/Primer
For repairs deeper than 5 mm and in areas below the water line, apply a drop of conditioner/primer.
Step 3: Apply CeramiCure Acrylic Filler
Apply the composite acrylic filler with the original syringe. Carefully feather it into the surrounding surface with a spatula tool or other technique to a depth of 2 mm or less.
Step 4: Apply Layers
If the repair depth exceeds 2 mm, apply multiple layers of filler, curing each layer for 20 seconds (see Step 5).
Step 5: Cure
Use the HI-LUX light curing unit, setting the timer to a 20-second cure time. Alternate 2 mm-thick filler layers with curing as needed.
Step 6: Completed Patch
After the filler material has cured (polymerization), you can immediately begin sanding and/or polishing.
Step 7: Sand or Grind
Use 220-grit special sandpaper or, for faster results, use a silicon grinding wheel.
Step 8: Polish
Use our Flitz polishing paste with cloth or felt polishing wheels.
